Find your iPhone's IMEI and serial number
Why you'd need them
The police and your network may ask for them if your iPhone is stolen. Your IMEI is also what's used to block a phone from mobile networks. It's much easier to save them now than to look for them later.
If you have your iPhone
- Open Settings and tap General, then About.
- The serial number is listed there. Scroll down for your IMEI.
- Touch and hold a number to copy it.
On iPhone 6s through iPhone 13 models and the iPhone SE (2nd and 3rd generation), the IMEI is also printed on the SIM tray. You can also connect your iPhone to a computer and look in Finder, Apple Devices or iTunes.
If you don't have your iPhone
- On the web: sign in at account.apple.com with the Apple Account used on the phone, choose Devices, then select your iPhone.
- On another Apple device: if it's signed in to the same Apple Account, open Settings, tap your name, scroll to the list of devices and tap your iPhone.
- On the box: the barcode label on the original packaging shows both.
Where to keep them
Keep a copy somewhere other than your iPhone, such as in your email or on a card in your wallet. These numbers aren't as sensitive as a password, but only share them with people who need them, like your network or the police.
How FirstHour helps
In Plan B, you can save your IMEI and serial number under Your phone's details, and they're added to your first-hour plan and wallet card. iPhone doesn't let apps read these numbers, so you type them in yourself.
Questions
Is the IMEI engraved on my iPhone?
On some older models, yes. Apple says iPhone 14 models and later don't have an IMEI or MEID engraving.
What if my iPhone has two IMEIs?
That's normal for phones with more than one line. Save both.
